SABIC Entrepreneur-in-Residence

The Entrepreneurship Institute at KFUPM by the support of SABIC is seeking to hire Entrepreneur-in-residence who can coach, teach, and support the entrepreneurs at KFUPM-Entrepreneurship Institute. What is an entrepreneur-in-residence (EIR)?

An entrepreneur-in-residence (EIR) is a position most often held by successful entrepreneurs in venture capital firms, private equity firms, startup accelerators/incubators, law firms or business schools. The EIR typically leads, or has led, a small, early-stage, emerging company deemed to have high-growth potential, or which has demonstrated high-growth in its number of employees, annual revenue, or both. An institutional fund may provide an entrepreneur in residence, or executive in residence, with the working capital to nurture expansion, new-product development, or restructuring of a company’s operations, management, or ownership.

Job description:

It is proposed to establish an entrepreneur-in-residence post at the KFUPM-Entrepreneurship Institute to fulfil and enhance its operations and achieve its unique outcomes as following:

  • Contribute to the encouragement and support of an enterprising mind-set amongst students, graduates, and staff.
  • Help our enterprise lecturers to refine their programs and ensure they continue to be up to date and engaging.
  • Be available for pre-agreed ‘office hours’ to answer questions from students one on one.
  • Contribute to discussions undertaken by our Global Advisory Board
  • Plan and execute training the trainer’s program
  • Support and help students and entrepreneurs, specially to develop their business plan and pitches
  • Helping raising funds for startups and the institute.
  • Be actively involved with high velocity teams to make them market ready
  • Provide business coaching to mature incubated teams
  • Plan and execute case studies/reports that captures and propagates the knowledge of the ecosystem
  • Teach and conduct entrepreneurship workshops/courses

Job Requirements

  • An entrepreneur with real-world startup experience. Preferable to be part of an innovation driven startup creation and/or technology commercialization-based startup.
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship and engaging students to be successful in their entrepreneurial journeys.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must be fluent in English as it is the medium of instruction in the University.
